The Rail Pub, the oldest running bar on Congress Street in Savannah, recently closed its doors after some customers tested positive for COVID-19. The company was not required to do so and voluntarily decided to do it for the safety of its customers and staff. Jon Hendrick, General Manager of The Rail Pub said, "We're taking this seriously." The Rail Pub hired Germinator of the Low Country to come in and thoroughly sanitize and disinfect the facility. The health department doesn't require this when a customer tests positive, but Hendrick insisted that steps be taken to give customers confidence in knowing The Rail Pub went above and beyond necessary measures to make sure the establishment was ready for its customers. WSAV, featured a story on the Rail Club and highlighted Germinator's sanitizing and disinfecting process. They spoke with Scott Odom, owner of Germinator of the Low Country, about the process and its effectiveness in creating clean and hygienic environments.

The Rail Pub in Savannah is Now Protected by Germinator Mobile Sanitizing & DisinfectingOdom said, "We spoke with Jon Hendrick, and he made it clear that providing customers and staff with a hygienic environment was of prime importance. While he wasn't required to take all of the precautionary measures he did, he wanted to go above and beyond for the public. The pandemic has already caused hardship on so many businesses, with many closing down. The Rail Pub was just starting to get back to normal when this unfortunate situation occurred. We got the call to come in and apply our patent-pending process to the establishment, and when we heard the worry in Jon's voice, we knew we had to do our best to address his concerns."

What Makes Germinator Mobile Sanitizing & Disinfecting So Unique?

Germinator utilizes a patent-pending process to sanitize and disinfect surfaces and promotes freshness while combatting stains and discoloration for up to three months. We first test surfaces to determine their current level of clean and then the next step, Genesis, is a one-step cleaner and broad-spectrum sanitizer and disinfectant treatment that harnesses the power of HOCl (hypochlorous acid) solution. Derived from naturally occurring minerals, Genesis not only eliminates odors at their source, but kills a wide range of bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Salmonella enterica and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and viruses including norovirus, rotavirus and adenovirus on hard, non-porous, environmental surfaces. It meets AOAC germicidal spray standards for Hospital Grade Disinfection and is on the EPA N List of products determined to meet the criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. We then apply our Shield, which is a water-based quaternary ammonium compound that imparts a durable bacteriostatic finish to a wide range of non-food contact surfaces before finally retesting surfaces.

Even with most of the country reopening, COVID-19 hasn't disappeared yet, and businesses are trying to take precautions as they navigate reopening. Most businesses are practicing CDC guidelines for social distancing to help reduce the spread of the virus. What happened at The Rail Pub has also happened to a handful of businesses in the area. There will likely be more, so taking a proactive stance can help. Keeping a clean, sanitized, and disinfected facility goes a long way toward helping restore comfort and peace of mind in our communities. Germinator of the Low Country is a great way to do just that.

In an effort to uphold the highest standards of sanitizing and disinfecting, the company recently created the Germinator Scientific Board. The board is made up of key leaders such as Dr. Roscoe M. Moore, Jr. —who was an Assistant to the United States Surgeon General for five administrations.

"During these unprecedented times, the need to focus on sterilizing agents within our country's airports, public spaces, and offices to decrease the spread of viral pathogens such as Coronavirus is essential," states Dr. Moore. "I am extremely happy to be a part of the Germinator team and lend my expertise to what I feel is an immense asset to the containment effort."
